Haircut

My cute friend and neighbor Sasha asked me to cut her hair the other day so last week I pulled out the old hair cutting scissors and started cutting. I was a little nervous, but she was so cool, calm, and really put her trust in me...it was so much fun:) Plus her hair turned out awesome, and she loved it:)
What do you think about my first hair cut?
(We went for a longer haircut, choppy but blended layers.)

Twilight

Ashton and I went to see the TWILIGHT movie today and can I say...TOTALLY AWESOME, AMAZING, WONDERFUL, and yes I am obsessed and I don't care. I love love loved it. Even all of the corny love scenes. I can't wait for the next one. I loved all of the people they picked to play the characters, I think they really did them justice. A+++.

When we got there we ran into Lauren and Skyler and some of their really nice friends from Rexburge. It was really cool to chat and sit with them. Here are some pictures inside the theater. Just waiting for the movie to start:)

Sisters

I can't believe how lucky I am. I have the most amazing, beautiful, kind, and loving sisters in the world. They are my best friends. I could call any one of them at any time, any hour, any day, and they would be right there for me, and I would do the same for anyone of them without a moments hesitation. I have always felt like we all came from the same mold and that is why it has never felt like work to be best friends with my sisters. It just comes so easily.

Here is why they are so amazing:

Tashi: She has so much understanding and so much compassion. She loves so deeply, lives so passionately, and no matter what she or anyone else is doing...she'll make it fun. She keeps the family together...kind of like the glue for everyone. I love her so much.

Cori: She is filled with so much conviction, knowledge, and discernment, you can't help but go to her for advice. She can bring clarity to any situation. She is filled with so much life and so much drive. There are no limitations in her world, and if you stay around her long enough you start to believe the same for yourself. I love her so much.

Tarah: What a sweet and gentle soul. The family needs Tarah like fire needs water. What calm and peace you find when you are with Tarah. What creativity and surprise she holds behind her sometimes shy composure. Tarah's laugh is contagious. I love her so much.

Heather: Our little Wild Child. She isn't afraid to do or try anything. She has such an open heart, is filled with so much kindness, a wonderful sense of humor, and an extremely positive outlook on life. She can take any negative situation and find the positive in it. Heather is never ruled by inhibitions. I love her so much.

Just a couple more...

I am ALSO thankful for;

6. How much Ashton helps out at home regardless of his 18 credits. To name a few; taking out the trash, starting laundry, hugging and kissing his wife, making the bed, improvising with dinner, taking care of our cars, making our home safe, and making our house full of fun and laughter.

7.One of the most amazing and powerful talks that I think all women need to hear by David Warner, from a women's devotional or conference on May third 2007 called "The Power of His Pure Love."

WITH GOD NOTHING IS IMPOSSIBLE!!!

"Weeping may endure through the night but Joy cometh in the morning."

Thankful Tuesday and Wednesday

On Wednesday I am thankful for:

1. Skirts...I am one of those weird girls who likes to get my hands dirty fishing, hiking, biking, etc, but also love to slip my legs into a cute tailored skirt.

2.The benefits that come from hard hard hard work:)

3. People that you can vent with:) You know who you are!!!

4.New ideas...They are just so refreshing.

5.Patient people...people who are nice, calm, and gentle despite their frustrations make me smile.

On Tuesday I am thankful for:

1. The Gym... Call me crazy, but I actually LOVE LOVE LOVE the gym. It is my me time, my time to run, my time to sweat, my time to get out all of my tension, my time to get out all of my OCD, my time to move, my time to stretch, my time to build, my time to help me be a better person for others:)

2.Cute elderly people.

3. Going to the grocery store with Ashton late at night...we always have so much fun...I love that man.

4. Getting excited for things. I have always allowed myself to get really excited for things to come, it just makes life more colorful and....exciting. For instance; standing in line for splash mountain, back stage before a singing/dancing performance, getting ready in the dressing room just before marrying my wonderful husband, waiting in line for graduation, waiting for the TWILIGHT BOOKS, and now waiting for Saturday when I get to see the new TWILIGHT MOVIE with Ashton:) Yeah...I know...I'm pathetic and I don't even care. Life is good.

5.Fat Free No Sugar Added Ice Cream...I love this stuff, and because it's not filled with a bunch of fat and sugar I don't want to eat a ton of it...a serving is always just perfect:)

What I'm Thankful for Today

Well...It's Monday and I am sitting on my couch with Ashypoo after a long good hard day and I am thankful for...
1. My nice big comfy couches.

2. My Ring fingers...I was born with short and slightly crooked fingers, well okay...maybe a little more than slightly. Really just ask my family. Any who all except for my two ring fingers. They are straight and thin...and I like my nails on those two fingers too.

3. Slipping right into sleep the minute your head hits the pillow. For me this really doesn't happen often, so when it does I really appreciate it.

4. Salad. You know those day's when you can't decide on what to make for dinner...or just don't know what you feel like? For me this happens often. In these moments for some reason I can always do a salad:)

5. My husbands hands. Well for one, they are hot!!! But also he has the most steady hands...they are never shaky but rather very sure. What a contrast from my little fingers that tend to trip over themselves on a daily basis:)

Well there it is...a couple of my many Monday thankfuls...What are yours?

3:00 AM

Ya wanna see what three o clock in the morning looks like????

Anyone...? Anyone...? Bueller...? Bueller...? Puffy eyes and all:)
Puffy lips:)
I particularly like the nice little red dot on my forehead:)

To Dekgal

To Dekgal,
I was not offended at all. I can understand how my deep thankfulness to God for sending him to me, imperfections and all, can seem a little depended. The truth is, I have become very interdependent meaning: “The interlocking of parts within a system. Within human geography, it is a view of a system as a whole, stressing the role of each part of the system.” This has allowed us to be as one. Continuously becoming the better version of ourselves, both pointed in the same direction, with the same "main" goals in mind. Make it back to God with our family after a successful life of love, children, giving, and serving...oh and did I mention see the world (he he he). We each play a key role in each other’s lives and eternal progression. The man could not live without the woman nor could the woman without the man. Each of us assumes vital and irreplaceable roles. Yes he loves hunting, I love dancing, he loves science, I love English, he loves to figure out how things work (ps he is an engineer), I love to make things work, he hates cooking, I love cooking...you see what I mean? I still paint, build, cook, dance, sing, read, write, clean like a maniac, yada yada yada, and he still does all of the things he loves. We try to do a lot of them together so we can better understand how each person works, but we still do some of them separately, I believe everyone needs to have their individual spiritual, mental, and physical awareness in check, and continue through life living spherically (in many directions). I am still growing and creating the person I wish to be, it will be lifelong(and continue after this life) only, I having someone to share it with. Someone to offer unconditional love, have a family with, grown with, create with, experience pain with, experience joy with, someone to offer support, and someone I can spend eternity with. I do not believe that man was meant to be a lone, nor do I believe that it is healthy. We believe that man and woman can be together forever, even after this life. If he were to leave this life unexpectedly, of course I would be a complete wreck, I would be depressed as all get out, my heart would ach for him, I would cry till I had no tears left to cry, but then, in the quite on my knees, I would remember that he has not left me…he is waiting for me. We will be together again; we will continue our progression together after this life.
I can see how some might misinterpret the churches view on women’s roles…but our church strongly believes that each person has a Devine destiny and we must all come to know and understand in this life what our personal Devine destiny is. The truth is we have a most precious role, which is not to be taken lightly. To nurture, love, bring calm to situations, bring heart and soul into the forefront of man’s minds, we are the glue that holds the puzzle together (and so much more). The men of this church deeply love, support, respect, protect, and treasure what we do just as we do the same for them. Men also play a key role in the family unit, they hold the responsibility to protect, and guide the family back to God (and so much more). In our faith we are obligated to help one another as equal partners. The gospel actually exhorts women to develop their own individual talents, to grow and become the best version of ourselves. The church also believes that we all have something good to offer this world, each one profound in its own way. I feel rather sad, that society has degraded the role of being a wife and motherhood so much, almost as if turning it into a chore. I believe that women are not defined by motherhood or being a wife, rather we are all individuals with different aspirations, different talents, and different goals. What society can’t seem to understand these days is that we are BLESSED to me mothers and wives. It is the most prized and precious gift that God could give us. Being a wife and mother is the most sacred task of them all, it goes beyond this temporary life. It does not demean our talents, aspirations, and goals, rather it enhances them. That is what I believe and stand for, that is what my gospel upholds and teaches.
I thank you for your inquiry and hope I have been able to answer your question and offer any needed clarity on the matter. Please don’t hesitate to ask:)
Much thanks,
Meghan Young

Friday Thankfuls:)

Today... I am extremely thankful for:

1. My wonderful, beautiful country, and all of the brave men that have fought over the years to protect a nation who's foundational principles were ingrained with goodness and guided by God. My country which, from it's infancy, was raised to be a democracy, lead by the people, protected by the people, and fought for the people.

2. The fact that I can't go even a night without my heart aching for my loves arms to be wrapped around me.

3. Ashton making me crack up everyday!!! Even right after a disagreement, he seems to always be able to lighten the situation and make me smile.

4. Going back to nature and making something from the harvest...for instance, today was home made apple sauce using apples we were given from a friends garden.

5. The sacrifices Ashton makes just so I can be happy...I am so lucky.

(sorry if most of these are about Ashton...but what can I say, he is pretty amazing)

But you get the idea. Me:) PS I made up the hair...so sue me!
My handsome husband (I messed up his upper lip a little and I have yet to fix it), I have always found his side profile soooooo attractive. I always wanted to marry a man with a cute swoop nose...and well I did!

Thankful Thursday

I am thankful for:

1. Second chances

2. Shopping with sisters

3. Cuddling with my wonderful husband early in the morning, just before the sun comes up.

4. The frizz/curl in my hair: yeah...I know it sounds surprising, but it forces me to be more creative with it:)

5.Having faith that things will work out the way they were supposed to as long as you give your best effort.

What I'm Thankful for in November

Emily, Thanks for this challenge. I think I needed it.

This month I am taking Emily's challenge and going to write 5 things I am thankful for everyday. I might have to double post if I miss a day, or can't make it to my computer, so check in if your interested.

I am thankful for:

1. How hard my husband works. (seriously he has so much devotion and dedication, he never gives up...even when others would or have he keeps on workin')

2. How forgiving my husband is. (I think any Meaker girl knows that we have a tendency to do things without always thinking them through first which can often times lead us to sticking our foot in our mouth).

3. God...He has been there for me through the good and the bad and still stands strong, I am honored to call myself his daughter.

4. Writing...what wonderful answers it can bring to us all, and what a wonderful outlet it can be.

5. The freezer...well, ice actually. I burned my hand, pretty bad tonight making dinner, and it is saving me:)

If we do our part He WILL do his.

I have always been proud to call myself LDS, but never in my life have I been so proud than I was last night when I heard that Proposition 8 Passed in California, and not just because it did pass. I was proud that, without hesitation, the LDS church and most of it's members, even outside of California, put themselves to work. We stood for a believe regardless of how popular or unpopular it is. Exhausting every effort, knocking doors, giving speeches, donating money (PS was the most money EVER spent on campaigning for a proposition), calling people, sign holding (???), sign posting, fasting, we really rose to the occasion. We stood up and fought for the single most important thing in America, the family, and what rightful meaning should be attributed to a marriage. We filled our part of the bargain, we answered the call, we did as much as anyone could do, we exhibited faith and perseverance, and God answered our prayers, his grace made up for the rest. There truly is a God, there truly is a prophet on this earth today, there truly are miracles that happen everyday, and there is still so much goodness left in this world worth fighting for. Thank you everyone who answered the call.
